I got an idea... *rolls eyes and grins* I know I know.. youre all groaning and say NO MORE MORI!!!!!!!! But.. I couldnt help m'self..  ;D I was reading the kids at work some fairytales today and it was realy cool to lose ourselves in these dark woods with wicked witches in gingerbread houses and a big bad wolf hunting a girl in a red hood. Last week, in a moment of sheer desperation, I watched The Brothers Grimm just to be able to have somewhat of a perve on Heath - and once again I was able to escape into this fairy tale world that had princesses locked away in towers while evil stepmothers plotted their demise. Today on my way home from work I was thinking about how cool it would be to have a Fairy Tale RP Realm.. if someone wanted to be Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, Puss in Boots,.. whatever.. they could. OR they could create their own characters in line with the old fantasy /Fairy Tale style, where anything is possible and we are only limited by our imagination. Ive always wanted to climb the beanstalk to see the Giant and this is one way I could do that.. perhaps the beanstalk could lead up to a tavern of some kind, where all the fairy tale characters could meet.. I dunno.. Im going off on a tangent. Point is.. I got some good ideas for this one but Im not gonna crap on about it if noones up for it. And yeah.. I know we are all stretched as it is, but it makes it easier for people waiting on others to post if we have something else to focus on while we wait. Plus theres heaps of newbs arrived that might enjoy this story... *shrugs* Let me know if youre interested or not guys. Any other ideas or suggestions along this theme would also be appreciated.  *hands out Gummi Berry Juice* Happy Bouncing. ;D |

*inhales the gummi berry juice* ;D AWSOME idea, I LOVE it! Though with such a wide expanse of characters to choose from.... wow, this would be cool!
Leave to the Mori to come up with the sparks of good creativity ;D
But quick question. Would we have to fallow the characters as they did in their fairy tale?
Example: I could be Snow White, but in a demented sense. Instead of loving all the little creatures of the forest, I could go around, killing the little rabbits with traps, later putting them on spits and feeding them to the wolves.
No? Lol, just a thought.
I think people would get too carried away with that. Would be better to fallow the story line, especially whoever picks Sleeping Beauty (or any other fairy tale princess) so they can have their prince charming come along without worrying about whether or not he's gonna cheat on her with Cinderella, coming home late at night from balls wasted, haha.

I wouldn't mind, but would it have to be fairy tales or could it include myths and legends.
Example: I could play as Beowulf, but only in a less violent and face ripping way.

*laughs* A less face ripping way huh? Glad to hear there is such a thing. Well, its up to you guys realy, I mean.. Im happy to develop this as a group idea thing so please share your thoughts, but I was thinking that it was up to the player who they picked and how much they wanted to stick to what was known about their character in books and what they wanted to change for themselves. Miss Jacki had a perfect example of changing Snow White to suit the player. IF someone wants to play Sleeping Beauty as she is known, that is up to the player.. if they want to play Sleeping Beauty in a completely different way, that is up to the player. Does that make sense? They can also create their own character but incorporate the fairy tale scenes into it.. for example, a young girl whos father remarries and she then has a wicked stepmother who poisons her so she sleeps for a hundred years.. etc. And yeah Domar, I guess we could include legends and myths.. though we couldnt go off too far from the whole Fairy Tale theme, as thats the main idea for the realm, ya know?  One thing I did want to try was that when everyone starts up their own threads, it starts off with Once upon a time... and is like we are telling a story. If anything good comes out of our stories, we might even be able to look into getting a book published or something along those lines. The possibilities are endless. well if you realy think about it any of our plots can be turned into a book, the only thing that would realy need to be done is change some wording, put in transitions, and have the character bios in the story.

Eek, all that comes with legal stuff and contracts... but it would be a cool book, like a complied list of all these twisted short stories.

And who to shotgun... Little Red Riding Hood methinks!
I think we should really stick with typically classical fairytales instead of going off into places like Beowulf. cause then how do we define what a fairy tale is, is King Arthur a fairytale? Is 101 dalmations a fairytale? You know what i mean?
But i like the idea... now just to get back and post in the many places i'm owned... sigh.

Yea, we could switch up the characters a bit, but not so much as to we change the story alot. Like....... ok, I dont know the name of the princess, my childhood fairy tales arent all coming back to me, but whichever one had the 3 fairy godmothers. I THINK its Sleeping Beauty, but I'm leaning more towards the one that spun thread from gold.... maybe..... not possitive tho... Anyways, instead of her having fairy godmothers, she could have 3 fallen angels that help her get revenge on the witch that made her touch the needle...... or fall asleep....... GRRR, why cant I remember..... Someone help me out here ;D I'm hoping you catch my drift....... changing races of some of the characters, or perhaps making Sleeping Beauty a brunette instead of a BLONDE, lol. The pretty ones are always blonde..... OR: This one I like... Little Red Riding Hood....... Tha big bad wolf isnt just a wof, but a werewolf kinda thing....... Alot could happen there  (For some reason, Josh fits into that like a missing puzzle piece, haha) |

I was just asking about the Myth thing. No need to shoot it down like that. And also The 101 Dalmations was a Disney movie, not a fairy tale or myth. A myth would be like a fairy tale, no way possible it could be true, but more for an older audience or intulectual thinkers.
Jacki, It is the Disneys version of sleeping beauty you are thinking of and she touched an enchanted spindle on a spinning wheel that the evil witch made. Every other spinning wheel in the kingdom had been destroyed, because the witch promised that she would fall asleep after pricking herself on a spinning wheel, and the witch put it in a tower of the castle. Also the one about the gold was Rumplestiltskin and he spun gold from hay for her in exchane for her first born child. I am a veritable well of useless information. I'm so proud of myself. ;D

I know this doesn't help, but you spelled Gawd wrong. Also don't feel dumb. I'm now not quite sure if Sleeping Beauty had three fairys or not, but I'm sure on the rest of the info.

I do agree about having to limit the stories so that they are based on Fairy Tales. Myths and stuff are cool, and we are more than capable of playing tales like that, but perhaps they would be better in a different realm than the Fairy Tale one, as Id like to keep them all on the same thread... Damn you for shotgunning Little Red Riding Hood BB! How did you know thats the one I was gunning for? ;D Never mind, cause now Im leaning towards a Snow White thingy.. Id like to play Snow White with an evil queen step mother, and put a slightly different twist on things. Perhaps the seven dwarves could be altered in some way.. though.. I cant realy think how right now cause Im drowning in work crap. *eyes pile on desk guiltily* I also love the idea of playing something to do with Rumpelstiltskin or the three billy goats gruff. .. oooooooh *gets an idea* Theres this bridge see.. and these homeless dudes sometimes end up living there, but they dont live there for long cause they mysteriouslly go missing. (they actually get killed or eaten by the troll that lives under the bridge) He lives in the shadows of the underbelly of the bridge though, waiting for victims to come in, under or over the bridge.. then he chants "Whos that trip trapping over my bridge?" before roaring out and gobbling people up. Yay! That sounds like fun.. but.. its more of a story for one or two players, not a good RP plot to get lots of people in.. *ponders some more* Like I said, the possibilities are endless. ;D Anyhoos.. if we get a realm for this, the different stories would be in different threads.. for example..you could click on and choose which story you would like to play in, ie: Snow White Little Red Riding Hood The Emperors New Clothes Three Billy Goats Gruff etc.. And I know there are legal complications with doing a book, but I still think it would be do-able. ;D |

Domar, forgive me if I sounded like an ass, I wasn't shooting you down or giving you crap, I was just giving you my opinion on what should be included and not. Every idea is valid and always appreciated, I just thought Beowulf strayed a little too far from Mori's original idea, it wasn't personal or vindictive.
101 Dalmatians was just one of the ideas I had to try and show my point of view on what a fairy tale actually is. I mean how does it differ from the original fairytales, who knows in 200 years kids might be going to sleep while they're parents tell them fairytales of 101 and dalmations... ;P know what i mean?
The Disney sleeping Beauty had three fairy stepmothers, we'll each have to do our own research on what our perceptions of the fairytales where. They're all different from each other in some way, in most cases.
Sorry Mori, great minds think alike, we could do it together, or I might give it back, I'm not sure if I want to do it 100% yet... something else might take my fancy.
Wooooh Whisper i like that idea too, there are soooo many screwy nursery rhymes out there!

7 dwarves, here we go:
Could be changed to 7 midgets ('small people', 'vertically challenged', w/e you want) who spend all day in the caves mining up gems and stones to buy themselves more pot, lol. Each midget has a different effect on being high (thus giving them their names)-

Bashful
Happy
Sneezy

This was more sarcastic then an actual idea, but I think it would be an interesting twist to Snow White, lol.
