Interesting. I could probably handle robotics, lord knows I've watched enough sci-fi shows and know enough about electronics to fake my way through it

kind of like the head of the marine force on the ship... not the same as security... a fighting unit.. for extractions, infantry combat situations, etc.... that sound okay?

Hmmm... I don’t really want to have too strong a military presence on the ship, The Ships security is kind of all I had planned. Just because it's a maiden voyage and we're no anticipating a need for marines, it's an experimental, scientific voyage, rather than invade and conquer.
Does that make sense?

Sounds like he/she commands the Away Teams, like in Star Trek. I told you, RED SHIRTS! Bah-hahaha!
My guess is Field Officer would be in charge of of the space-walks and people who would be on the ground when terraforming started or whats-its. IN THEORY.

hmm.. Well to avoid a new position and to comply with the rules, i will be the medical officer. A very young, genius, suave medical officer with a sexy accent, who knows how to say all the right things... and maybe play a little guitar.

Hey, my character the robotics guy and HE'S supposed to get all the girls! Think Tony Stark, but not rich enough to do it all on his own

Sorry it took me forever to reply Dan, lost track of Space for a second.
But yeah Terry is exactly right. A field Officer is all about exploration once we’ve landed. IF we land…
But I like the Doctor idea too, and don’t worry Sabis, there’s PLENTY of hot nurse’s to go around.
You can choose to have several different professions if you like though, much like my character who is head of communications, but also works in the robotics lab.
Your character could even be a Field Doctor rather than general head doc?
But then that would probably be a demotion wouldn’t it? There’s going to be a time for all our characters to step out of their roles, once things get chaotic though, so never fear, chances are all of us are going to have phasers to kill sooner or later...
