I was talking to someone tonight when the subject arose about time lines in Morthika. How different realms could relate to each other, regardless of what time or period that realm was set in?

For example, I have wanted to introduce a wild Wild West theme to Morthika basically since the very beginning when I first thought of the place. Although Scoobs was the main driving force that supported me technically, my Tere Bear was the one that inspired me to play again and have all these ideas… His twist on my Wild West idea was to incorporate it with vampires.. If the VT hadn’t got off the ground, that was going to be the initial intention to meet our Vamp needs around here.. but as you can, we have two realms dedicated to vamps so that’s more than enough.

So the Wild West went on the backburner, though I toyed with the idea a few times as some of the rest of you commented to me that you’d always wanted to play a cowboy or a big bad ass with spurs and silver pistols. Those of you who have entertained the notion will hopefully like the idea that I’ve finally come up with in regards to bringing in a wild west theme..

The new plot New Storm City looks set to take off soon, and my character in that plot is Caelyn Darkmoon. She is, amongst other things, the proprietor of a shop called the Witches Cauldron and as such was also a practicing witch. With her shop, she has access to a lot of curiosity objects and trinkets from all over the world, and one of her prized posession is a large gilded mirror. The mirror stands at the foot of her bed, reflecting the early morning light on her face as she falls asleep each morning. I am planning to have it that the mirror is from a grand opera hotel in the middle of the Goldrush. It is enchanted, and allows Caelyn to visit there and have adventures in her sleep. This will not affect the New Storm City plot in the slightest but will be able to be a sub plot where those of you who want to play out something in that era can play with me. *grins* Let me know if anyone is interested…

But back to the origional question… what do you think about time in relation to the different realms in Morthika? Could we swap characters over in different realms.. Discord in Camelot for example? Or Moridanu in Anima? Thoughts?

Hmmm.... It seems a little outlandish to me to do stuff like that... I mean, it really depends on the character. If they're immortal-like (like an elf or demon), maybe. But that could get really confusing really fast, too. Some realms may not even be related to eachother at all, too... Like, Camelot and Kendelah. Camelot has a specific thing about very little fantasy (the old ways dying, and such), and yet Kendelah is rife with it! To me, Camelot and Kendelah seem to be right around the same time period, too, what with castles and princesses and such. ALTHOUGH! I guess Morthika's history does not have to parallel the real world's, Lol!

I'm just thinking, if we put plots on a linear timeline (which does seem like a nifty idea), we have to keep in mind there are possibly centuries between them. So, having a character cross from one plot to another, imo, just seems rather far-out. Especially if that character is a mortal human with no special enhancements.

I don't really think Camelot is ready for Discord, but that's just me. On the topic of realm hopping with characters, I personally think it depends on the realm and the character. Nightwarrior, from Verasia, was a good example of a futuristic character is a fantasy realm. It worked once. You do it any more than that and it spoils the realm. Realistically would so many people from other times come to that time period? No.

I do, however, like the idea of the window into the West in the New Storm City plot. It's realistic, or, you know what I mean. Not entirely realistic, but if you're open minded, not ridiculous. I'd be happy to participate. It doesn't take away from either plot but provides enough of a connection that the characters could easily go between.

Anyways, realm hopping once or twice isn't a bad thing, but unfortunately one or two people can't really have rights no one else has. It may be best if we just left it alone -except- on specific, prearranged plots. Random example: Think the lost world. A group of...New Yorkers from the zombie plot fall through a time warp and land in Camelot. There are a number of New Yorkers who will be adjusting to the setting. Now, I should note that's a -terrible- example. The zombie plot has no time warps and Camelot would be ruined if a crowd of New Yorkers landed there. But you get my point, I hope.
