(If we have had one of these before, please tell me)
I was thinking that maybe we should have a plot where an even amount of people duel 1on1 until 1 wins (of course). You know, a big, big tournament (for what, not sure yet).
I think the only rule should be that there is no killing, whatsoever.

That sounds cool. I would love to do that. We could give it a cool name too! There would be a referee, played by someone, and he would stop the fight when it got bad! The people fighting would describe their actions, and wait for the other person to post. Good idea Priestrevan! I am looking forward to doing this. *smiles insanely at the thought of beating up other forum members*

Sounds good, there would have to be a third dude as Tak said, someone who at the end of the game decides who wins, or it could even go to a vote to see who everyone thought won. Nobody wants to loose so nobody will (without a referee). lol if you know what i mean.
It could exist on another plane of existance, so characters from diffrent realms can fight each other.

Cool! I'd like to join the Arena, it's been a while since I last fought in character, I have to brush up my skills again...

Well, I didn't think my little idea would be popular at all.
And yes, anyone can use this thread as a brainstorming area.

I got dibs on the surly quiet chick with the black hoodie training quietly in the corner, hiding in the shadows almost.. *grins* I think it would be could for this place to offer a wide range of things to a wide range of characters. The tournament side of things could be a good way to settle arguments, a festival of fighting like the days of old where warriors come to compete. It was a thread that I tried to start up a while ago now in the Camelot realm, but unfortunately never took up due to the lack ofinterest at playing a knight.... cest la vie BUT, this way, there would be no restrictions on character types, and no necessity to have a storyline to have a duel. A challenge from another player would suffice. Of course, we would need to have rules and moderators, and I know a few people around here have experience with RP fighting (myself soooo not being one of those people ). Im looking forward to seeing what we can come up with. *hands around the Gummi Berry Jucie to assist with the brainstorming*

Ok, i say we work on it, we've been talking about it for a while we may as well get something up, i'll work on a name for the realm, as for rules i reckon two people can talk about it, discuss who they think is the better fighter, and then agree, nobody likes to loose so if the fight looks like it's going to go forever, then the two judges can step in give their decesion and then the players have to write a post up of who wins and how... what do you reckon?

Ya Know, during the fight, we could havve announcers that can make comments almost like they do in sports. I think that would be fun, and I would be happy to do that. Anyone else think this is a good idea?

I think the fights should be made to last a fixed number of posts depending on the contestants: If the match is the initial stage of a tournament, or just a normal match, it should be shortish, while championship finals and battles between "heavyweights", so to speak, should be longer and richer.
We should decide the level of freeform-ness we want for the arena. Having it too open would make for very descriptive battles, but it might make it hard to tell who won. If we put too many rules into it, the opposite happens.
About the announcer thing, yes, it could give it a nice touch. I ran a D&D arena campaign once, and added the announcer about halfway through, and the game really gained a lot of substance.

Okay, that's good! I came up with a good idea! *claps happily to self*
But how do we determine the heavyweight matches? HOw do we know if their person is a good fighter or not? Maybe to enter, the contestent has to give a sample post with their character and the judge can determine the class? Tell me what you think.

I've had experience with RP fighting, and would be happy to be a judge, of course I would also be willing to fight. So for the times I'm not fitting I'm willing to judge, that is if I am found acceptable for the task.
