Alright, I've finally dragged myself up from the depths of my jell-o mold of work life to put this idea forward to the community. Allow me to say right off the bat though that this will not be a game-mastered plot. No GM. Moderated for content: yes. Nudged in the right direction by an omnipresent force now-and-then: naturally. I want creative minds in this one, throwing in ideas by means of stunning roleplay and classic teamwork. There will be no "character bios," "out of character," or "maps." It's...free-form. ;D (You all hate me now, don't you? hehehe, just wait...) The planet is Earth. The year...unknown. Wars and natural disasters have ravaged and reshaped the planet into something completely foreign. But for those who live on it, life continues unabated. Where once dense rain forests thrived, deserts now reign. Where once snow and ice froze the earth, tropical resorts are visited by millions of visitors each year. Sprawling metropolitan cities have replaced the dividing lines of countries with the dividing lines of highways. No one person is isolated, and nothing anyone says or does is out of sight of their respective governments.
In the New Age, mankind coexists with mythical creatures, wild animals, fuedal office towers, high tech, and low tech. Nearly all that can be explained scientifically has been, and magic is still widely thought to be just parlour tricks and casino shows.
However, behind the hustle and bustle of ordinary life, behind the politics of ceaseless wars and bribery, a machine lurks. The Tower presides over all, unseen, unknown, ruling the world as a silent chess board. An assassination here, a carefully placed bank account there, and the frail reality that lets mankind run on all cylinders is maintained. Those who know of The Tower either run it, or disappear.
You are the perfect assassin. Half flesh, half machine. You know only one master, The Tower. All you need is a name and a face, and you carry out your mission. You do not work with other operatives, you work alone. The Tower provides you with everything you need. You know nothing else. You don't ask questions, you don't need answers. I'll let the bidding begin at $1,000. Any takers? p.s. - It's still a rough-draft idea, so feel free to offer criticisms and thoughts.

Me am excited! *slaps down 50 billion gazillion dollars*

Ha-har! Three bidders already! Excellent...! ;D And yes, Mori, bring in Amorshka! Levarin will be around, too, hehehehe. Now for me to elaborate on what you've just joined... In the assassin's guild of The Tower, your character will be whatever species you want. Human, vampire, werewolf, elf, gnome, even dragon. The powers your character possessed before their inauguration into The Tower are then enhanced ten-fold (roughly speaking...) as The Tower's scientists have remade you into a cybernetic being. Elves are swifter, lighter, and bullet-proof. Vampires can evaporate into a poison mist, suck a body dry in artery-scouring seconds, and spy from the shadows with built-in recording devices. These are just examples of what you can put into your character. It doesn't need to be explainable by current technology, but if you can form a clear picture in you head of why something works, then magic need not ever enter the picture. While this may seem like you're creating the perfect assault vehicle (which you are), The Tower has enemies. So-called Anarchists -- tiny factions of humans scattered all over the world -- wish to topple The Tower's regime and "take back" freedom. You may choose to play an Anarchist if you wish, but their technology is not quite up to par with The Tower's. They rely on more primitive methods such as funding terrorist coups d'état, burning methane refineries, sparking hostile corporate takeovers, and stealing someone's umbrella in the rain. Their radical, unpredictable, and relentless activities are meant to interrupt a chain of reactions, much like taking out a domino in the path of a falling string of dominoes. Chaos theory is their number one doctrine. The Tower deals with any known Anarchists with swift, deadly force. Anarchists' only defense is martyrdom in the hopes their death will be as a ripple in The Tower's still water. So, yeah, PM me if you want to be an Anarchist, 'cause if you post it here, I'll publicly ridicule you. I'm going to start this plot, but I will only run it insofar as pulling the string on a top and letting it spin out of control. It may end up being a long string, but my ultimate goal is to have a plot running that doesn't constantly require everyone to wait on just one person to post every time. It's a long shot, but I'm willing to put in the extra effort to try. ...I'm feeling adventurous! ;D

Yes it will, Mori-babe! ;D
Next off, (I just keep forgetting junk because one post takes me so long to write when I get thrown off on a tagent like this one right here that you are still reading go on to the next sentence already, damnit!)
Eh-herm... Anyway...
Next off, and I meant tyo say this sooner, you don't have to tell everyone who your character is. You can, it's cool, no big deal, but I also want to introduce an element of surprise. Rather than having an OOC thread, we'll comminucate through PMs. This'll work a lot better if you have a seperate account for this plot, one with an e-mail address you check regularly. Savvy? That way, if you -do- end up waiting for someone to post, you can just PM them and ask rather than put it on an OOC thread. Then comes the surprise: we'll be using PMs to communicate with eachother IC as well. Kind of like a satellite link or something. Savvy, loves?
Well, that's the cool idea at any rate. Let me know if you're interested in it, though. If nobody wants to do it, then we'll have a crummy old OOC thread. I would just rather not.
Arg, almost posted this without finishing the chracter details...AGAIN.
Anyway, the final important note about your assassins: They will have forgotten any past they had before joining The Tower. That doesn't mean you can't invent one, though, and by all means do! But as I said in the first post, you're not going to post it here for everyone to see. Keep it in a little word document on your computer. Write it down and tuck it in your shirt pocket. It doesn't matter. You may present these elements during IC; they're especially good for plot twists and dramatic moments. ;D
sheesh...hope I got everything this time...

This is moving fast! All I have to do is write up Dirk's history and throw it in a folder and I'm done! As for the IC within the PMs, I don't know if that will be a good idea. It'll get confusing when something happens in a PM and everyone else is left hanging and not knowing what happens. Or will it work differently? I think the OOC idea is good. It'll save time, because most people go to their PM box when they see a new message. I know I do. Anyways, I can't wait for tonight! Wait... my dad said I can't go on the computer after he wakes up. (Night Shift.) Darn, now I have to pull weeds!

Aw, sorry about that. I don't get off work until 4:30 today, though. What I meant about the IC in PMs though is not so much RP'ing in the PM, but, like...communicating...like...er....okay, nevermind. It's NOT IC in PMs. It's still OOC. I was thinking along the lines of coordinating attacks with eachother. Joe1 in PM: "Go left, I'm taking the right side." Joe2 in PM: "Okay."
Joe1 IC: *dives right on the target and blasts three rounds* Joe2 IC: *dives left and cuts off the target's exit* Savvy? Might not always need a PM, though. It was just a thought. Like, if you're in a battle situation, and you don't want to auto someone, you can coordinate with them how it'll go down.
