During my wonderful honeymoon, Mickey and I watched a few episodes of Supernatural (got Season One on DVD), and after wiping the drool off my chin several times and having to drag my eyeballs away from the sex on legs that is known as “Dean”, I was trying to concentrate on my posts I owed here… as most of you know, the mind of Teh Mori is a scary place..
So, Ive had an idea for a new kind of RP at Morthika. Its still in baby stage, so it will probably change a lot before it actually takes off, (if at all), but the concept is fairly simple.
We form a team of characters that are essentially “Hunters”. These characters can be from any plot or realm currently active in Morthika, or completely new if the player so chooses. These “Hunters” will need to possess either the skills or experience to be able to hunt and destroy all forms of evil (picture monsters in closets/under beds, ghosts and ghoulies, demons etc). Each character will have their own skills, powers, reasons for being a hunter, etc.. that is all up to the player. The group will be constantly on the move, Rping out different scenarios and fighting different foes, which is why it will run parallel with the other current plots, but will never interact with a current active plot if it involves character conflicts (time lines etc).
These scenarios can either be planned by a “Plot Master” (for want of a better term) whose job it will be to come up with new scenarios and targets for the group to hunt We can have different plot masters for each scenario, giving writers a chance to try out storyline ideas for future plots. The plot masters will need to respond occasionally to the hunters, if they reach a point in the hunt where the group need some direction or response from their most recent actions. Oh, and a hunter can be a plot master for a scenario, and vice versa. This allows some in character development that is vital to the overall plot.
I’m probably not explaining this very well, but I have a lot of ideas about this and think it could be pretty cool. New players could join in easily enough, but I think its crucial to have at least four or five hunters for the main group. Other players can be plot masters, play in scenarios as whatever big bad booeyman is on the menu, or join in with the Hunters either as the victim that called for their help, or someone who wants to kick some evil ass.
Let me know what you guys think of the idea before I develop it any further, and give an indication if you will be interested in playing. And please, if you get any ideas about the concept then please share!!

I sketched a character right before I looked at your post, and he's perfect for this! And that's cool, because now I have one.

*grins* well then, this could be a perfect opportunity to create a new C! So far, Im thinking of using Caelyn Darkmoon given her whole magickal background and what not.. otherwise, I might be creating a new C.. like I dont have enough around here already. *grins and rolls eyes* Glad to have you on board Gilligan! This is gonna kick ass.
For those of you interested in this..
If you can start thinking about which character you want to use (if you want to be a Hunter) or which plot line you would like to submit (if you want to be a Game master) it would be peaches.
Since this is just starting off, I have a scenario in mind for our first place to visit, but its open to discussion if not completely rewriting it. *grins* I love carnivals, and I hate clowns with a passion.... SOOO.. I was thinking of a carnival that has come up on the radar cause everytime it goes through a town, at least two or three children are reported missing. Further research will reveal one or two things about the carnvial's ringleader and what not, (dont want to give away all the suprises - but there WILL be evil clowns *shivers*) and our gang will go in to kick some evil mojo's ass.
Before we get to that though, we need to gather our Hunters.. have them meet up somewhere and for some reason (any ideas guys?). Once the group is formed, we can start the first scenario (if you are happy with the carnival idea). In keeping with the inspiration of Supernatural, we are free to explore urban legends and mysterious events so get your thinking caps on guys.
Let me know your thoughts peoples!! And the more the merrier! So, if anyone else is interested, just let me know here!

I think if we want to go a little creepier... we could do the infamous Bloody Mary legend.
It creeps me out everytime I think of it.

Most definately babes. Add it to the list! Other urban legends and myths I'd like to explore (off the top of my head) are: The Hook Man Loch Ness Monster (but we would localise it so it would just be a lake monster.. ) The haunting hitch hiker The one with the babysitter getting calls from inside the house. I just got Supernatural Season Two on DVD, and one of the special features is an interactive map of different urban legends and whatnot, so Ill use that as a bit of research tool for facts we would need for our plots and such. *beams* Ill add more ideas to the list as I think of them. Keep up the good work Tak! Keep on coming up with those ideas. Any idea which C you are going to use yet?

Creepy! This Hook Man is the one that the teen couple hears scratching at the back door of their car while parking, correct? In the ancient "Scary Stories to Tell In The Dark" series, they drive off and take the hook along to find when they get out, but as anyone who saw movie Urban Legend 1.0 knows, that tale can get considerably more bloody. That babysitter getting calls from inside the house still makes me twitchy. If you're really after RPing through the infamous urban legends, the place you need to be is www.snopes.com/ . Yes, the site is dedicated to determining which are true, but the minute one of our talented GMs gets ahold of them, they'll seem real enough to us. We need those Harry Potter coins that change to tell us date and time of meeting is what we need. Most rowdy hunter groups would be gathering in the bar for a late night of drinking before they start their trip. I'm in for clowns.

Rowdy hunter groups! Well hawt damn, that sounds like a perfect job for a hillbilly with a s*$#load of guns!!
hehe. I'm still working on a C. I kinda want to stay within the Supernatural series and pick a human, but you'ver opened it up so wide....I might stray a bit...

The babysitter one was made into a movie, "When a Stranger Calls". Very good movie starring Camilla Belle, me thinks.

Thanks for the link Poe Poe! Im already putting it to good use as far as researching diffferent urban legends. Its a gold mine! ;D Yeah this is the Hook man: www.snopes.com/horrors/madmen/hook.aspclosely related to this one: www.snopes.com/horrors/madmen/boyfriend.aspTak, heres some stuff about Bloody Mary: www.snopes.com/horrors/ghosts/bloodymary.aspTwo other urban legends I would like to explore are the Hitchiker that gets dropped off at their house only to disappear whilst still inside the car, and The Bunny Man and the infamous bridge.. Also, the possibility of lake monsters, mermaids and such as well would be bonuses. *grins*
