I tried the Bloody Mary thing when I was all of 12, but nothing grabbed my face. I wasn't much to look at before, nor after but at least nothing tried to tear my face off. I'd like to give it life in RP. Perhaps we could have some stupid High School club initiation involve doing it and have a series of deaths to investigate, hence our finding Miss Mary.

So...I have questions. Have we decided exactly what time period this is and what kind of world it is? We should probably set up the guidelines for all of this to help people with character creation. T1 rules will also be necessary for battle since some may not know them. Yorkie C and I thought it was pretty modern- XBox 360 and McDonalds kind of modern- but I'm still unsure of the setting. A city like New Storm or real world only with elves and demons, etc?

I was thinking it was modern too.
Like, normal world, just with monsters, ghosts, and all that.

I would most certainly love to run one of the plots, as it's right up my alley with the whole supernatural angle. A few quick questions:
1. In order to keep a sense of fairness and horror fun, what's the expected level of powers for player characters?
2. Are they going to be relatively normal people with perhaps one or two special gifts?
3. Or is this going to be more like some demon hunters who have a suitcase full of special weapons, artifacts, and bizarre powers?
4. Will plot masters get some sort of leeway with approving characters or at least keeping things reasonable?
The Hunters could be called together by a mysterious, enigmatic third party who chooses to remain mysterious and enigmatic because it fits the scenario. And perhaps they're kinda shifty on the side, so we can question their cause.
Also, on the topic of urban legends, I highly recommend extremely twisted or original depictions of any we choose to use. Like, imagine if Clive Barker got ahold of the Hook Man or something. Good stuff there.

*raises weary head from the ever growing pile of paperwork on her desk* Sorry Poe Poe, teh Mori be uber sleepy and therefore can’t stay up late to catch you online…me not being a brat, me just need my sleepies. Now to answer the questions to the best of my ability.. Damn you Goober for making me think! 1. In order to keep a sense of fairness and horror fun, what's the expected level of powers for player characters? 2. Are they going to be relatively normal people with perhaps one or two special gifts? I was thinking that the main players would be humans, and as such would have the strengths and weaknesses of our species. Some humans may be stronger than others, and some might even have some kind of paranormal ability (the ability to see / communicate with ghosts would come in handy, or in Caelyns’ case her powers as a witch would also come into play.. you get the drift.) Just relatively normal humans, going out to fight the good fight. I want to try to avoid the whole uber powerful character that some people seem unable to avoid. 3. Or is this going to be more like some demon hunters who have a suitcase full of special weapons, artifacts, and bizarre powers? Depending on the characters history, they may have a suitcase full of special weapons and/ or artefacts. 4. Will plot masters get some sort of leeway with approving characters or at least keeping things reasonable? Errm.. Im thinking that the main group of hunters would not need to be approved for each new plot. The plots themselves will be designed as something for the hunters to do, and as there is already the limit for hunters to be human, I cant see why we would need to have any stricter rules.. but I could be wrong. Of course, the plot master would have the final say if any disputes arise.. Like I said, always happy for feedback and ideas. As for Bloody Mary, Poe Poe.. I love your idea! So far, as for the urban legend side of things, we will definitely be exploring Bloody Mary and The hook man. Ive also got some ideas for the haunted hitchiker, (ya know where a hot young thing is hitchiking by the side of the road, claiming her car broke down, and needs a lift.. but when the driver drops her off at her house, she has disappeared. The story can either go two ways.. the traditional story is that the driver approaches the house, knocks on the door and enquires as to whether the girl got home, only to be told she died several years ago. But the one I saw on Supernatural had the ghost actually killing the driver in the car, in the driveway of her long since abandoned home… I was thinking of a cross between the two. First, the woman disappears, the driver goes to the door, finds out the truth, freaks out and leaves, only to later crash his car and die when he swerves to avoid the same woman in the middle of the road.. Anyhoos, that’s just three of the urban legends that I’ve actually given thought to. Glad to see you guys so excited! Goobs, Im not sure about the mysterious third party that calls them all together.. I was leaning more towards fate or destiny pulling them all together, and everyone having to find out whats special about the others and why they are all together.. Im sure that will make sense once Im more awake. Keep brainstorming guys!

I was thinking, Our Hunters are in this unofficial 'guild' of sorts, they're individual, they do their own thing most of the time, fighting evil in their own way, or just doing domestics, but BIG mysteries kinda bring us together for some reason and in some way, I like Hex idea of making it kinda like the coin that Dumbledore’s army uses. But obviously something different. Perhaps they all wear the same necklace with an insignia on it that glows of vibrates and whispers in their ear, where they're needed.
I love the idea of serializing it, kinda like a TV show. For instance, the first, second, third adventures could have little clues that eventually leads to an UBER conspiracy/big bad. We’d of course have to talk about what this end game is. But every so often we get little clues as to what it is and where they’re headed next.
For fans of Buffy in the first 6 or 7 episodes in each episode one character would mysteriously, say ‘From beneath you it devours’. Made little sense until things started getting hairy. We could do something like that.
What do you reckon? We’d probably need a whole realm for this!

*beams* Its cool to see you guys so in to this! It reminds me of the old days when we got all excited about new possibilities and what not.
*nods* your idea could work BB..
One thing I was thinking about today, is that we could have new players join up with the core one or two hunters during plots. I've started on something for the Bloody Mary story which I can probably have up tonight - Sunday night at the latest, if my inspiration strikes ( I have it half written in my head). In it, my character (which Im fifty percent sure will be Caelyn.. or it may be another new C. *groans at the thought* ) has a younger sister who dies mysteriously and horribly. The cops dismiss it as something or rather, but with her powers, she can sense dark energy and knows that something is amiss, so she starts an investigation of her own. After talking to her sisters friends, she finds out about their recent slumber party where her sister had done the whole Bloody Mary thing..
It would be around this time that another Character or several others could converge on this scene, investigating this case as part of their job where they hunt evil as their main gig (your idea BB), or perhaps they knew my C's sister in school, have their own magic wimwamy thingy and get involved with the hunters that way. Either way, their introduction into this plot would basically be the forming of the core group of hunters. At the end of the plot, the players may then either go forward into the next plot or episode, if you will.. *grins and sticks out tongue at BB*, perhaps once again they mysteriously turn up to the same paranormal event (perhaps the Hook man urban legend), or bow out and go on their merry way until a story takes their interest, or they get more time on their hands..
Anyhoos... thats my thought process on the whole thing. Like I said, I'll get to work on it now and I can have the beginning of the plot up and running by the end of the weekend if you guys approve of the Bloody Mary idea. Of course, we can change anything you guys think would be better.. so share your own ideas peoples.
*Showers with gummi berry juice before bouncing off to tackle the thousand of posts owing*

I think I was about twelve too.. I scared the shit out of myself because my friend told me I would see her in the mirror, and then after I said it three times and was looking into the mirror, I saw something dark in the shadows jump out towards me but it was in fact my cat.. *sheepish grin* I kinda embarressed myself a tad, but hey.. I was twelve. Sorries for the double postage, but yeah, Poes got the right idea.. Ill give you guys the stupid high school club initiation thingy Poe just mentioned.. you guys come and investigate, okies? ;D Oh and I agree with BB, I think this thing will definately need its own realm. What name should we call it though?

How about some random Latin?
Absit omen = "let an omen be absent" Usually used when bad shit's about to get worse.

Or we could name it "Da Hippie Paranormal Squad that Tackles Urban Myths in a Methodic Yet Strange Way"
Or, more random latin. Vix Leviculus = Scared Silly Sounds pretty cool, no?
