And maybe, building off Mori's idea for her character, if her father is the big-up noble guy, my priest-dude was probably her family's go-to holy man, so he knows all their secrets. But of course he can't tell anyone. However, due to recent events, he's become disillusioned with his life's work as a holy man, so could spill the beans at any moment if his pilgrimage doesn't go as he hopes.
And if he knows all about BnR's character's family lineage, that might make for some interesting tension between those three.
To clarify, do the characters have the ability to summon at the start of the plot, or is the power to summon something they're gonna obtain after finding the city?

Ooh, good point. If the whole Summoning aspect doesn't come into play until AFTER reaching the city, I guess that would shoot my whole character idea in the foot. Well, not the WHOLE thing, but the part about being a legacy.

Summons being available from the start works awesomely with all these char concepts so lets have characters be able to summon right off the bat. Though not all of the chars need to have summons pre-city. Players can expect to gain more summons as they progress and maybe something a little bit more hehe. Also, since you called KOTR Bnr I call magus sisters By the way, having pics for your summons is strongly preferred, you'll find out why . And the summons being able to be NPCs, possibly with them fading away at a players discretion would work perfectly for playing multiple chars too. I could see someone wanting to rp, waiting on their partner, and while they do that they get to play their NPC as well. Aww, I was hoping to play somebodies summons. According to that contest we had I am the 3rd craziest person on morthika after all. Oh well, plenty more summons to play in the future. For my historian char, I could see him being the junior historian for the family sponsoring everything. He's expendable and is just there to regurgitate knowledge without understanding the meaning. Every group needs a red shirt, and if the position ain't taken, I'm your man.

Hmmm. Sabis would not fit in well here, the rangering arts and deserts aren't exactly compatible, and he hates sand. But, my paladin, or the monk character I have but have not brought here yet, might fit well. my paladin, obviously, he's part dragon, part human, part celestial being. He's a holy knight with the blood lineage to back him up, a preacher and a warrior. Adding Summoner to the list would be fun (Bahamut ftw from the draconic dude!) Also, come to think of it, if we have a priest and a royal family, it would only make sense that a KNIGHT accompany them, a militant but devout one that they can trust not to try anything with the princess

Right, so I've been thinking about this a lot lately, and come up with some more topics that are worth discussing. Okay, so I'm actually just thinking out loud, and posting it for later reference. This may seem nitpicky or overly detail-oriented, so feel free to disregard or respond as you feel appropriate.
Time restrictions for summoned characters: Do we have them? Once Summoned, do they hang out until banished/dismissed, or is there a limit? If there's a limit, what is the counter? Say, a predetermined number of posts, or a certain number of actions? Or do we go by an IC clock?
Power level of summoned characters: Just how big do we want to go? I mean, Summoning a will-o-wisp is fairly simple, and thus easily accepted. And it's believable (so to speak) that a talented Summoner could whistle up a powerful angelic/demonic servitor. But perhaps we should limit the over-the-top stuff until later posts? There's not much to strive for if you're already able to call up the lords of the cosmos at a whim.
Limitations of the Summoners: Kinda building off the last point, should there be a limitation to how many powerful Summons you can pull off? If you design your deck around Exodia, there's not a lot of room for a Blue Eyes Ultimate and the three dragons you have to sacrifice in the ritual, you know?
Character background and the Art: You may consider your character's back story and how it effects your summoning style. Mori's princess would have had to devote her attention to politics and statescraft, and may find that an invisible spirit can hear all manner of interesting things when other think they're alone. Boston's priest might have a "holy" theme to his Summons, like angels or white stags. Dakkon's scholar might find his most useful summons to be a ball of light, an imp who takes dictation, and an air elemental to keep his study dust-free.
Anyway, this is all just random garbage I thought I'd bring up. There will probably be more, and it likely won't stop until we actually get this thing started. :-D Yes, I do this sort of thing a lot.

I would be happy to be the expedition leader B&R!
I haven’t figured my character out fully though. Probably because I’m still a tad confused!
Ok, so this is all happening in the real world? Or a fictional world? I know all our characters come from a fictional country, in a fictional desert. We’re all Human yes? No supernatural races?
B&R I like your ideas, I like the fact that our summons would all mean something to us, they wouldn’t be something void of ourselves completely, like a Patronus Charm from Harry Potter, or the Daemons from Golden Compass. Our summons would reflect our characters personalities.
Also Dakkon, how would a Mage work?

Okay, so Talisen will be the lead (btw, glad you like my ideas, but I'm obligated to point out that they are not facts, just ideas) That being the case, I think my character would serve best in a professional capacity. As a Treasure Seeker, he's got experience with disarming traps, opening doors, circumventing blocked paths, that sort of thing. Perhaps he could act as a "tomb raider" of sorts (without the breasts and short shorts)?
Also, still trying to find a way to tie my character into the group. If Mori's the royal, and Boston's her priest, and Sabis her guardian... well, trying to figure out how my guy fits in. Perhaps Talisen's character will have an easier tie-in, and I can work it through him. Always open to suggestions, of course...

Time restrictions for summoned characters: I'd leave this to the individual characters and would love to see variety here. Maybe one player has a strong bond with their summon and the summon is always out (needs to be said: this is pikachu). Maybe another summoner spreads their energies out by summoning a wide array of creatures that pop in and out of existance constantly. Power level of summoned characters: Yeah, I like the idea of having some mutually agreed on limits. In general sticking with utility summons over raw power summons might help us initially. So instead of dreaming up summons that throw down fire from the sky or bring people back to life- a summon like a firebird or one whose spit helps close up wounds both work well. But this suggests a more earthy feel to the summons, flashy can be okay too. Player discretion, just make sure that what you're summoning feels balanced with the goals of making other people look good. If a summon only makes your character look or seem awesome then dont use it. Limitations of the Summoners: I would be tempted to say no limitations enforced. By which I really mean- Yes Please Limitations! Be creative, think about your summoner and what limits them. Make it part of your character as you alluded to in the Character Background section BnR. (I'm all over that air elemental idea for keeping things dust free. Only I'm gonna make him an air demon, nicknamed Dust Devil. Or is brand placement frowned on lol?) As a heads up, the last game I played with summons we definitely ran into an overpowered summons issue. Really that was the result of players trying to make their chars look really BA though. One of the rules of improv is to make other players look good. So do your best to avoid temptation and draw yourself a reasonable sounding box to think inside of. Talisen Phoenix The summoners plot I ran was in a setting of mages and magic was pretty much stock standard. I'd like to see what you could do with maybe integrating the mage and summoner classes. Possibly have spells that somehow make use of the summons?

I already pretty much have my entire character planned out - backstory, summon, strength of his summon, how long it'll stay out, how it fits with his story and his personal journey within the larger journey, all that good stuff that's been discussed here already, and it all fits with what people have been saying as far as limitations and such.
But of course, as a master storyteller, I can't give away any spoilers. Twists and turns at every step with this guy.

Yeah. A knight, I can re-write the real background story once I get a better feel, same with armor/equipment, he'll obviously be outfitted to fit best with the group. But not kidding, his summon is going to be something he can use as a mount and to help him in direct combat, and duration is likely pretty hefty long, like whenever he's not sleeping kinda long.

Oooh I’m excited! Can’t remember the last time I played a character who was a leader, should be fun! Gonna lead you all down a hole! MUAH HA! Sounds good B&R we can work a link out, I have a couple of ideas, but seeing my character is the expedition leader I'm think he's had a similar past to your character, an Tomb Raider from way back, who thought he'd never get back into the business again, but perhaps on the Princess request decided to take one last hoorah! I think he'd be somewhat famous in the Biz too; maybe your character was a student of mine B&R? We can work it out, just some ideas! I'd love my character to be a Mage too, one last thing before I make some decision, what was the final verdict about Races? Humans? Elves? Rabbits? Oh and it goes without saying Moriface, our two characters are going to clash. Naturally the Princess would not be used to being told what to do?

Yeah, can we get a write-up as to background information? Race can be cool and all but as I said, the paladin/knight can be re-written to fit and would like to get started.
