Regarding Technology: I think we could compromise and meet half way. I dont want lots of tech stuff to remember and incorporate into the story, but I think if individual characters want to have their own inventions to make their life easier, then why the hell not? Love the scattered island idea.. I think there should be at least six world wide.. and I think they should be large enough to be a mini city. Like.. a port.. but also with a tavern and marketplace for trading .. if that makes sense? Otherwise.. life is on the ships! And duh.. I am sooooooo a Pirate who who is a captain of her own ship! Just deciding whether I have a peg leg and a parrot or not.. Oh btw.. I dont like the idea of a GM or anyone in charge of this.. I like the concept of freeform, particularly when we have so many creative, loyal and talented writers on board. I think all of us should just hash out the details and have a list of rules or guidelines posted up that we all agree on for the thread... what do you think?

Hello. Mori mentioned pirates to me...got me keen on this again, heh heh. I like some of the other ideas here, too. Far-future-post-apocalypse-pirates sounds neat-o, too!

That’s what I meant when I said GM was too strong a word I don’t want to just blurg (that’s right blurg) out every single detail about the plot and story, so that there are some surprises, when it comes down to actual play, so let me work on something sneaky. So that’s Mori and Sab on one boat. Who’s next? As for technology, shall we say nothing you can’t find in actual pirate times, give or take a few little helpful bits of technology providing you character has the know-how to build/fix and create said pieces of technology. If you know what I mean. Not every two-bit Pirate is going to know how to build an automatic rifle. No rocket launches/ machine guns/lasers/ um… I can’t think of anything else. You know what I mean. Ok Moriface 6 known island/nations. The Biggest and most ‘established’ is New Holland. Where my Character is in charge of. What else? Where do your characters come from?

Yeah.. But I don't want anyone thinking they are in charge of anything.. It takes away from the freeform aspect.. And why new holland?? I just think we need to discuss and share ideas before people start claiming islands.. :/. And I'm not sure sab wants to be on my ship

lol. Well we can't have everyone on their own ship! lol. Some people have to be crews. Besides, if the captain is a bloodthirsty monster, she needs a calmer, more reasonable first officer to keep her frm murdering all of her own crew!

Oh I thought you said Sab would be on your ship. Sab you can have your own ship if you want. By someone do you mean me? Sorry I’m not trying to be all controlly, but there are what 5 players, six at most? I thought everyone could get the chance to name an island and tell us a little about it. I was just hoping my character would be the boss of my island, but that doesn’t mean every character will come from a different island that their also in charge of. If we keep going around in circles just discussing, it’ll never get done. I’m just trying to sum things up, so we can get things hurried along. Don’t mean to be a bully.

If you take an island, Ir eccomend a VERY small one. Maybe 6-7 MAJOR islands, with dozens of little dinky ones just big enough to put a dock on and a bar/brothel for pirates to "blow" their money on (hehe). I'm talkin the size of a small retail store, maybe 2 acres at most. If you command a ship, you get a free island! As for me, I'm good for being first mate Zanis Garde, a stern but honorable man who has no qualms taking from others and no problem fighting for his treasures, but refuses to hurt children and won't harm a woman unless she attacks first

The more I hear about this one, the less I like it. It's like a pirate story, which is good... but the point of piracy is to get rich and sail the seas, right? Salty dogs with a taste for violence, floating across the briny blue to steal the riches of others, or trecking across lush tropical islands to plunder the treasures of lost civilizations. Then it's back to port to live it up with a bottle of rum and a poxy wench. But this world has no riches to steal, as everyone lives on boats. It hardly has land to speak of, aside from the very rare, very small island. And it's post apocalypse, but without any of the aspects of a post-apoc setting. Perhaps my poor foolish mind is simply overtaxed, but I'm having trouble placing myself in this one.
I'll be happy to read this one as it plays out, and perhaps I'll join in later down the road once I understand the setting better. I know that all of the brilliant minds in this story will make it spectacular.
For now, I think I'll stick to the stories I'm already in: Prohibition, the War, and (if I can generate any interest) PP. Write well, my friends.

Hmm. Well, pirates fighting EACH OTHER can be MUCH more lucrative... when there are ships FULL of treasures at the bottom of the ocean, with people constantly trying to raid their sunken hoardes! Or when one is found and suddenly... there's a race to the location, with pirates fighting the whole way!

What would need to change to make it more appealing babe, cause I feel the same way ;( how bout we lose the post apocolyptic angle and just have a good ole pirate story!

I would hate to change up the story on MY account, I don't want to rain on anyone else's parade, but.... I suppose a simple pirate story WOULD be more appealing. I mean, it doesn't have to be our world, if you guys want to go that way. It could even be post-apoc. There's just some elements of a pirate story that I feel MUST be there in order to make it complete. For example, there simply must be kings and merchants to rob, or else there would be nothing for a pirate to do. There must be an imperial navy to battle against (when not fighting other pirates, good on ya, Sabis). And there must be dry land, or piracy loses its luster. Where's the fun in sailing if you HAVE to do it? And what's a pirate story without places like Portugal, Tortuga, or (duh) the Caribbean Islands?
Please understand, I don't want you guys to change the story if you like what you're working with. But living on a boat your whole life sounds like a bad Kevin Costner flick, eh?

The thing is I wasn't feeling it either.. So I want it to change too otherwise I wouldn't be up for much enthusiasm to get it moving. And yeah I love all your ideas!!! Guess we just wait to see how the others feel? :peers at "the others" and grins: what say you guys?
