I think I have my pirate concept ready, just need to give him flesh and he'll be ready to take to the seas. Also, i did have an idea we could use, a world I had been working on for a long time though it was made for high fantasy. A simple alteration or two makes quite the pirate adventure ready.

Ohhhh do share?
I was thinking of a concept.. something to get the ball rolling so to speak..
How do you feel about the idea that some guy wanders into a pirates tavern, drinking up a storm and boasting that he has found the famous BLAH BLAH BLAH (insert cool name here) Spanish ship which was rumoured to be carrying the entire royal collection of gold bullion and jewels etc but sank somewhere out in the carribean. It could be the pirates version of the holy grail, something they all dream of, but dont really believe exists. Everybody laughs at this guy, until he goes to pay for his drinks with a Spanish royal gold coin or something...
Suddenly everyone in the tavern realises this guy could be legit, but before they can find out more details, he falls over dead.
Then the race would begin for the search for this priceless treasure and the adventure/hi - jinks on the high sea would be on!
Thoughts? FISH?

I meant more over-arching. I'd been developing a world setting for years now. Imagine Earth, 10,000 years after some form of apocalypse happens and nearly everything is wiped clean. By that time, nobody remembers the old world. None of the technology remains, any scrap we could find for the first few hundred years became salvage and our method of building shelter. After this long, we're barely back into worked steel, still using IRON. But ships.... Ships we built early, because those who survived did so by the bounty of the sea. At least, that's how I edit it to fit us here. Easy to use all the same locations and places and maps we know, 10,000 years isn't alot to landmasses, but we can make up nations, states, ships, everything.

I love the idea and it can work IF we are going for post apocalyptic.. Im just confused as to what the others want..but apparently you and I are the only ones playing now???

lol. I think the others are scared. This setting, because it's so distant future, makes it easy to adapt to any setting while eliminating what we have on the books for history. Instead of Europe being the primary source of civilization, it may have been South America, or CANADA, who knows.

I totally dig Mori's idea for an introduction -- that sounds like a super-fun, super-open way to get the ball rolling. It also feels like a nod to the old MT-style RP, which I definitely like. I'm totally onboard with that idea, people. Also, as far as characters are concerned...I have to walk back the "pirate sisters" idea for a while. My dear sibling's so busy she ain't got no times fer' this. Tee hee. Maybe I could be Mori's first mate or, you know, something else fairly easy. The effin' semester starts next week so I don't want to get in over my head with a straight-up captain character. Let's keep that pirate-y ball rolling. Happy weekend, lovelies!

Im with you Leet.. Im sooo swamped with Uni at the moment its hard to think up a whole new character and what not. Im just worried that this will lose momentum if we dont get started soon.
So we have the introduction decided upon.. what about setting though?
Where do we stand on the post apocolyptic thing? My guess is.. not so much??

No worries -- we'll keep the momentum going. As far as the post-apocalyptic thing goes, I'm cool with whatever...just not oodles of technology. If you think it might help, we could always decide that part later; the first couple of posts could be people at sea, on their way to make port at whatever seedy island/tavern (maybe like Tortuga from PotC?) we decide to meet in. In that case, all we'd need is a sea/ocean name, an island name, and possibly a name for that tavern in order to get started.
I've got a character name and description planned (half-assedly), so I'm ready when you guys are. Woo hoo.
